Our Strategic Directions

While the Academy's immediate goals include diversifying programs, growing enrolments and increasing enterprise revenues, our long-term goal is to strengthen individuals, families and communities through learning. It is through the strategic directions - Access,Quality and Employment - that we plan to achieve our goals.

Provision of training for local residents for additional specific local growth sectors and emerging technology sectors identified within the Advantage West Midlands cluster initiative.

These sectors might possibly include Health & Social care, Business administration, ICT training, packaging and horticultural activities. Review of training infrastructure and availability of training both within and outside the local area. Creation of greater consistency within the local training infrastructure and development of clearer training/employment progression routes.


• ACCESS: Phoenix Business Management Academy will enhance community-based access to adult learning.

• QUALITY: Where value can be added, Phoenix Business Management Academy will seek higher levels of excellence so employees and students will excel and programs will remain current.

• EMPLOYMENT: Phoenix Academy will respond to the needs of learners and employers for training and education required to meet the employment demand in UK

Our Mission

To work with deprived, hard to reach local communities & small business groups to enhance their quality of life by promoting, supporting and strengthening Training

 for their mental well been and physical well been.
• (Hard to Reach Learners, Engaging local communities, Learning at Work)

Our main theme will be that assisting groups who are not in paid work we are looking to secure funding to develop training and mentoring projects that target people not in paid work, our target groups include people:
• Who have been out of work for a long time
• With physical disabilities, learning difficulties or mental health issues
• Aged over 50 years who are looking to return to paid work
• With caring responsibilities
• Who are either Client Sponsors or lone Sponsors
• Who have difficulties with reading, writing or maths
• With English as their second language
• Who are either homeless or rough sleepers
• Who have completed or are coming to the end of a custodial sentence

Employers & Business
Phoenix works effectively with employers creating training solutions to support the demands of an everchanging workforce. We offer a range of professional development courses and also design bespoke courses in collaboration with employers to meet their training needs. The Academy strives to build a workforce for the future in Birmingham. By collaborating with industry, we support students in gaining qualifications and skills that enable them to advance their careers. We also help those returning to work or looking for a career change to update their skills.



The  groups of students and trainees that attend this College are:

Apprentices
Mainly, but not exclusively, 16 - 18 year olds trainees who are following an Apprenticeship framework. The training is very much a collaboration between College and employer, with technical certificates studied at College and assessment of practical skills carried out in the workplace.

19+ Employees

Attending College to supplement their training at work. Qualifications range from NVQ's through to National Certificates. Attendance is generally, but not exclusively, day-release.

Professional Development
Employees of any age attending shorter programmes of work that range from an afternoon to 10 weeks.

Bespoke Training
The College can taylor-made courses to suit individual needs.

"Returner's"
Students who have had a career break and want to update their skills before re-entering the employment market.
