ITQ: Information Technology Qualification at PHOENIX

Programme description

It has been proven that a proficiency in IT is now as important as Numeracy and Literacy for a very large proportion of jobs in the UK. ITQ is the new flexible IT user qualification and training package that can be tailored to ensure that learners are trained in the IT skills they need and also those requested by employers.

Internets and intranets
E-mail
Word processing
Spreadsheets
Databases
Websites
IT artwork and images
IT presentations.
If you already have an IT qualification, you can use it to count towards the ITQ. This allows you to build and develop your skills without having to face the prospect of starting again or having to re-demonstrate skills that have already been assessed.

Start date and duration

The ITQ begins when you start your main programme. The duration depends on your previous ICT skills and your level of study (level 1-3).

Entry rerquirements

None, but you must have an interest in working with computers and ICT. Existing ICT qualifications and experience can be acknowledged and count towards the ITQ.

Progression and career opportunities

You can progress to a more advanced ICT course such as Applied A Level or the European Computer Driving Licence both on offer at RNC. You can also use this qualification to access other vocational programmes such as Administration or Customer Service.

Mix and match

We design a learning package to suit you. So you can study ICT alongside units from other subject areas e.g. Business, Art & Design and Performing Arts.

You will be eligible to join the programme if-

You are a resident of UK
You are a EU resident with right to stay and work in UK
You are unemployed and claiming job seeker’s allowance
You are employed less than 16 hrs a week and claiming job seeker’s allowance
You are unemployed and not claiming job seeker’s allowance or other benefits from the government and can certify your unemployment
You are unemployed and receiving job seeker’s allowance or other benefits from the government under the old scheme
You are in the following age group:

Female: 19 - 59 years
Male: 19 - 64 years

ECDL - The European Computer Driving Licence
What is it?

The European Computer Driving Licence® (ECDL)
is the internationally recognised qualification that enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills.
It aims to:
Raise the general level of competency in ICT
Improve productivity at work
Enable employers to invest more efficiently in ICT

Provides proof of competency in the PC skills of potential and current employees
Demonstrates that employees have understood what has been taught Helps ensure that training budgets are better spent Offers motivation for employees to learn

Cisco Networking Academy Program Cisco

The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive four semester blended learning course that teaches students to design, build and maintain computer networks
